Diversity Data
SRA Diversity Reporting
The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) requires all regulated firms to collect and report on diversity data. This is part of their commitment to ensuring transparency, equality, and fair representation across the legal profession.
What the Requirement Is
- All law firms regulated by the SRA must collect diversity data from their staff at set intervals.
- The survey covers aspects like gender, age, disability, ethnicity, socio-economic background, and caring responsibilities.
- Employees are free to choose “prefer not to say” for any question.
How the Data Is Handled
- Responses are anonymised and aggregated before being submitted.
- No personal identifiers (names, contact details, etc.) are sent to the SRA.
- The aim is to provide firm-wide insights, not to single out individuals.
Why This Matters
- Sharing diversity data openly helps build trust and demonstrates commitment to fairness.
- The SRA uses the data to monitor diversity and inclusion across the profession.
- Firms can use the anonymised results internally to improve equality and inclusion strategies.
